Crew exchange

Newcomers greeting departing EGRIPers at the outdoor recreation sport while Skier 71 is being loaded with the retro cargo.

Saturday started with some filter runs in the drill trench, but when drilling was about to resume the drill tower did no longer tilt. This was fixed but drilling was first continued Sunday. This turned out to be THE DAY where we finally managed to have sufficient good weather to have a flight mission to EGRIP. This mission was postphoned from 20 July. 14 EGRIPers left camp and 23 new arrived. Camp population is 31 EGRIPers

What we did in the weekend:

  1. Filtering bore hole.
  2. Deep drilling core length at 19.00 Sunday: 3.60 m.
  3. Drillers depth at 19.00 Sunday: 704.64 m.
  4. Finished logging and packing of ice core from AWI test.
  5. Water vapour, methane, aerosols, snow and boundary layer measurements
  6. Physical properties measurements.
  7. Water isotope sampling for sublimation studies.
  8. Grooming of skiway in preparation of Sundays flight
  9. Received Skier 71 with crew exchange, new food and visitors from US Army, retro of ice cores and AWI drill equipment
