Storm and radars

Charles and Daniel connecting 144 cables on the EGRIP radar

After midnight the wind picked up to 26 kts with gusts of 36 kts. We had drifts in most weatherposts and Iben and Zurine reported full snow cover on their sleeping bags and mattrasses. At 7 am in the morning the windspeed dropped and we made a round digging snow away from the doors of the weatherports so all could get out. The beginning of the day was used to remove drifts from the buildings and open all our inclined trenches. Due to the 144 cables to attach to the EGRIP radar Charles and Daniel got special permission to use the floor of the newly cleaned mechanic garage.

What we did during the day:

  1. CFA measurements of 38 bags, last bag 3699.
  2. PP measurements of bags 3260 and 3795 where the superbanger was used to break the cores, Volume samples were also measured.
  3. Station for atmospheric moisture sampling and isotopic measurement is active.
  4. Placing the VHF and the EGRIP radars on balloons and connecting cables
  5. Data processing of radar data – data looks excellent.
  6. Cleaned floor in mechanic garage
  7. Organized core troughs in ice core buffer trench

Ad 2: Ilka is also starting to clean in preparation of packing

EGRIP population is 23
