Time for fun

Mills cross 2018 balloon now as a trampoline in front of the Dome

As camp is going out of the routine programs there is also a little more time for fun. The long arm of the balloon for the Mills Cross version 2018 will not be used more for the radars. It was inflated and placed in front of the Dome. The balloon is very clear on the web camera on alice.egrip.camp so watch the 19:00 images in the future days for show pictures. When Nan left camp, Will promised to prepare dumplings for dinner one night together with Frederik. The whole cfa team used an afternoon preparing dumplings together with Frederik – and we ate them all in 15 minutes! Delicious – thanks to Nan for the initiative. It was a very warm day yesterday with temperatures up to the melting point. Sverrir used the good day to make the winter hills on which we place the sledges with overwintering cargo. This way, the cargo does not get lost in drifts of snow over the winter.

What we did during the day:

  1. CFA preparing packing and making dinner
  2. PP measurements of bags 3680 (easy break) and 3328 (big borehole diameter)
  3. Station for atmospheric moisture sampling and isotopic measurement is active.
  4. Working on the radar data
  5. Design of holder for L-band radar
  6. Shallow drilling at S5, the shear margin, depth 51 m
  7. Work on the Rover
  8. Successfully melting cores on the Lisa box.
  9. Making winter hills
  10. Electronics in the new oven broken

EGRIP population is 23

Weather: Low wind 3 kts and 14 kts. Wind mainly from SW to S. Mostly sunny with temperatures between -14 °C and 0 °C.
