A flight day

The departing passengers – EGRIP’ers and guests.

A mission day involves all 14 in camp. After departure of the Skier 51 from Kangerlussuaq, 13 ice core boxes were brough the surface with the lift and brought to the pallet near the skiway. After finishing the pallet, the fuel pump, flexmobile, Cat and PistenBully were moved to the skiway. On arrival, Sverrir drove the flexmobile onboard assisted by Steff - a VERY tight fit and loaded the pallet with ice with the Cat. In the meantime, Sepp, Martin, Derryn and Trevor were in charge of the defueling of 10.000 liter of fuel from the wings to our fuel tanks. Dorthe, Ilka, Eliza, Meg showed our 10 visitors (from University of Manitoba, Arctic Commando, DTU Arctic, AWI and crew members from the Skier) our camp, trenches and double walled pit. Aira briefed our new doctor, Charlotte and Chiara made cookies, sandwiches and pizza food packages for the Skier crew and guests… All in all, a very busy and coordinated day.
We would like to THANK the whole crew on Skier 51 for an excellent mission - loading demanding cargo and taking off in the first attempt.
Goodbye to Ilka, Eliza, Aira and Jinhwa. We will miss you. Welcome to Charlotte and Jonathan.
