Bill Nye Good Bye

Bill Nye Good Bye.

We have had the last mission in this period and we have said goodbye to Nanna, Chris, Henrik and Martin, the Bill Nye Group and the Tällberg group. It has been some intense days between 17 and 21 July – but very rich for all of us. On the Skier we had a visiting group from Germany and AWI and the EGRIP newcomers Randi, Mari, Mika, Troels, Cunde and Aslak. The EGRIP population will be 17 until the next flight period in August. We would like to thank the 109th for fantastic support and also for the interest you show by joining the tours of EGRIP when you are in camp.

What we have done today:

  1. Drilled and logged the EGRIP ice core
  2. Bill Nye filming everywhere
  3. Receiving Skier 41 (tail 93)
  4. Introducing the newcomers to EGRIP
  5. Resampled snow surface profile in the clean snow area
  6. Lowering the floor in the core buffer
  7. Changing water pump in the main snow melter

Ad. 1: Logging depth: 74.81 m (16 runs, 21.21 m)

Weather today: Nearly full overcast in the morning, clearing to blue sky during the day. Temperatures -10°C during night and evening and up to -2°C in the day. Wind 5 kn changing from NW to SW during the day.
