The winter hills of EGRIP

Today the first winter hill was made and full drums of drill liquid for next year stored on the hill. The overwintering items will not drift in when they are placed on the 1.5 m high hills. Sverrir, JC and Aslak are digging out the plywood sheets from last year beside the hill. 

What we did today:

  1. Deep drilling core length at 19.00: 11.01 m.
  2. Drillers depth at 19.00: 867.34 m.
  3. Water vapour, methane, aerosols, snow and boundary layer measurements.
  4. Physical properties measurements.
  5. Water isotope sampling for sublimation studies.
  6. Documentation of carpenter´s garage.
  7. Documentation of mechanic´s garage.
  8. Documentation of food in cooks freezer.
  9. Weighing and strapping ice core boxes.

Weather: Overcast with snowfall, wind 3-7 m/s from W to NW, temperatures -16°C to -8°C.
