AWI Basler radar team poses in front of the Basler. Lukas, Daniela, Tobias and John.
Weather was good, and today we received a Hercules plane from Kangerlussuaq. We had the first crew exchange of the season. We say goodbye to Tobias, Hans Christian, Bruno, Karl Emil and John, and hello to Lydia, Steffen, Bent, Valerie, Richard, Bruce, Eliza, Jens Jakob and Ilka. Getting new members settled and unpacking arriving cargo took most of the day. In the afternoon, a technical issue was discovered on the Basler. This issue is best fixed in Kangerlussuaq, so it was decided to terminate the radar program. Luckily, the program is almost completed anyway, and the scientists have acquired a lot of good data. Now, part of the radar equipment will be removed from the plane and sent to Kangerlussuaq by LC-130 next week. The Basler and crew will also fly to Kangerlussuaq next week.
What we did today:
Weather: Fine day with fog in the morning and at night. Temp. -19°C to -29°C. Wind: 8 kt from SW. Visibility: Unrestricted.
