Nansen sledges in the snow.
It started snowing during the evening of Wednesday and it continued all day. We got about 8 cm of new snow. With no wind and pretty warm temperatures (-5 deg C) it felt like Christmas snow falling. The surface contrast was quiet low so out of camp activities were postponed. Because the science processing team also was waiting for more cores for the coming day is turned out to be a cosy home day where data was treated and pictures stored on the EGRIP internal drive. Susanne polished all the Dome windows so Frede can see the through the kitchen windows.
What we did today:
Ad 1: The drill was operation at 01:30 so ice core were also drilling through the night.
Ad 3: All the full ice core boxes have been strapped and weighed.
Ad 5: The PP team packed the Microstructure Mapping Microscope.
Weather: Overcast and snow all day, clearing in the evening. Temperatures between -12ºC and -5ºC . The wind was 0 kt during the day and picked up to 12 kt in the evening. During the day the wind direction turned CCW from 45 T to 240 T.
Camp population: 32
