Packing, packing, packing

Moving equipment from the Surface Program tents to the area accessible with skidoo.


With all main activities stopped drillers, core processers and surface program team were all documenting and packing. It was a wonder to see how fast boxes were documented and organized and boxes started to pop up on the surface for return to Kangerlussaq. As a special treat we were served a Chinese dinner by Nan, Li with many helpers. THANKS for the very special extra ‘Saturday Night Dinner’.

What we did today 

  1. Packed, documented and cleaned in the drill trench
  2. Packed, documented and cleaned in the science trench
  3. Removed all drums from the drill trench roof
  4. Borehole logging
  5. Packed and carried equipment out of the surface program tents
  6. Packed, weighed and strapped ice core boxes
  7. Prepared food tent for new boxes arriving 9 August
  8. Grooming of skiway and apron with tiller
  9. Chinese dinner

Ad 3. The drill liquid tank was pumped full and additional 5 drums of drill liquid was stored in the drill trench for easy access start of next year.

Weather: A warm day, partly with thin overcast. Temperatures between -9 ºC and 0 ºC. Wind between 816 kt mainly from 240 T.
