Routine and new projects

Alexandra and Hannah wlking to the next sample spot in the clean snow area

The EGRIP camp goes into its next period with new and continued activities with only three team members overlapping from the team from before July 10th (Abby, Alexandra and Will). The weather was really sunny, so it is a good day to report on the surface programs. Alexandra and Hannah used the day to sample 5 tubes of the first 1 m of the snow.
The tubes are sampled in the surface balloon trench, the top in 1cm samples the deeper part in 5 cm samples. Measurements of water stable isotopes and impurities will inform on the exchange in the surface snow layers. Abby also samples detailed surface samples to see how the spatial variation is. This supplement the intake of water vapour 10 cm over the surface which is continuously monitored for water stable isotopes.

What we did during the day:

  1. CFA measurements of 22 bags, last bag 3491.
  2. PP measurements, last bag 3776
  3. Station for atmospheric moisture sampling and isotopic measurement is active.
  4. Assembled the Mills Cross radar ballon and tower
  5. Prepared wheels for foambox rover
  6. Unpacked pallets from the last mission

EGRIP population is 23

Weather: Wind from 3kts increasing to 9kts from WSW to W. Sunny all day. Temperatures from -17°C to -8°C.
