Grooming

Sverrir and the PistenBully grooming

The first pull out mission is planned for the August 7th and in preparation the skiway needs to be groomed. If weather permits the best day to groom is two days before the mission so the surface has time to hardened after it has been levelled and flattened by the PistenBully shovel and groomer. Sverrir used most of Monday to groom the 3.6 km long and 60 m wide skiway. The skiway is really good this year with no ‘rollers’ so it is ready to welcome the skiers to EGRIP.

What we did during the day:

  1. Packed to weatherports
  2. Placed the new cable drum on the drum holder
  3. Packed, documented and winterized the drill trench
  4. Groomed the skiway
  5. Emptied the fresh food weatherport
  6. Elevated the solar panels for the seismic station

EGRIP population is 23

Weather: Wind betweem 0 kts and 8 kts. Wind between WSW and WNW. Mostly sunny with morning and evening fog and temperatures between -20°C and -10°C. It is gradually getting colder.
