Getting Colder

Weekly temperatures at EGRIP the first week in August, Steven and Davids sleeping corner in the ice box storage trench.

An extra day in camp for 18 of the 23 in camp because the mission planned for today has been postponed to August 9th. As most weatherports are down the first floor in the Dome is rather cramped with mattresses and sleepingbags. David and Steven decided to sleep in the ice core box trench where the temperature is -22.5 deg C. True polar researchers!. Temperatures on the surface are also cooling so both the night and the day temperatures are getting 1-2 degrees colder every day. This makes perfect conditions for landing and take off on the ski way.

What we did during the day:

  1. Packed weatherports on the big sledges
  2. Packed the timber sledge
  3. Flattened the area where the weatherports had been standing
  4. Documented the balloon sledge
  5. CFA team prepared chinese dumpings for dinner
  6. Extra pRES measurements behind the white garage tent.
  7. Documented and packed storage sledge
  8. Storage sledge placed on winter hill

EGRIP population is 23

Weather: Wind betweem 0 kts and 10 kts. Wind between W and WNW. Mostly sunny with morning overcast in the evening and night. Temperatures between -21°C and -10°C.
