Dome has been pulled to surface and tomorrow it will be pulled back to the new surface on its original position

Dome pulled to surface today.

Today, after breakfast we secured all loose items in the dome and at 1100, the dome was pulled up to the current surface. It is now 2 meter up to the front door, or a 2 meter drop if you walk straight out the door. Now, we can see to the horizon from the kitchen windows. Sverrir and Chris worked all afternoon backfilling the area, and now the former dome site is flat. The rest of the team cleaned up around the site and two cable well extension made by Thomas was placed on top of the old well. We also managed to build a WeatherPort and cast a cable duct before we had a Frederik dinner: Spareribs and coleslaw.

What we did today:

  1. Dome moved to surface - success.
  2. Backfilled dome hole and hole after generator.
  3. Pulled all cables and glycol pipes out of snow duct. They will be re-used.
  4. Extended cable well with 2.4 m in height.
  5. Built WP 7.
  6. Cast new cable duct for “freshie shack” WP9.

Ad.1 and 3: The dome was pulled to surface at 1100 local. By 18.30 all traces of the pervious dome and generator positions were gone and the entire area is now flat.

Weather today: Clear blue skies. Temp. -30°C to -19°C. Wind: 5-9 kt from WSW. QNH 1010 hPa. Visibility: Unrestricted.
