Sverrir is burying our orange balloon for cable duct to carpenter’s garage.
Although the blizzard yesterday wasn’t as bad as they can be, it gave a lot of new snow and caused quite some snow drifts. Our ramp entrances to the storage cave and to cook’s freezer were completely filled up and had to be re-opened.
For our colleagues working in the megapit, the snow drift also presented a lot of challenges. The skiway had large patches of snow drift and since we are expecting the AWI Basler tomorrow, we groomed the skiway.
Now, our main storage garage and carpenter’s workshop is back on a new berm so we have begun to put shelves and items back into it. Soon, we only have to lift the mechanic’s garage and excavate our white storage garage, and then all camp structures on the surface are back to how they were in 2015. Next in line for restructuring are the underground caves for ice core drilling and ice core science.
What we did today:
Weather today: Most of the day, blue sky. Temp. -20°C to -15°C. Wind: 4-10 kt from WSW. QNH 1014 hPa. Visibility: unrestricted.
