COVID at EGRIP

COVID testing at EGRIP.


This morning we had the first case of COVID in camp. Testing all in camp a second infected was found. The two have been isolated in a weather port with a private outdoor toilet. Room service has been good today and card games have been moved to the COVID tent. None of our patients are seriously ill and with our doctor Caroline in camp we will manage. A great thanks to Caroline for the professional handling of the situation.

What we did today:

  1. Four drill runs from Sunday 7 pm to Monday 7 pm. Logger’s depth at 7 pm: 2240.58 m. Logged core: 12.97 m.
  2. Processing in science trench. Last bag packed: 3907. Production: 6.60 m.
  3. COVID testing of all 23 in camp.
  4. Filming and interviewing in camp.
  5. 2sided pit ready for filming crews and camp – thanks to Martin, Albert and Sverrir.
  6. Optical cables and seismic recording stations placed.

Weather today: Morning fog clearing to broken overcast most of the day, with fog coming in again at 22:00L. Wind from E between 2 to 11 kn. Temperatures -13 to -7°C
