Lukasz joined us on July 26th and will stay until August 15t to take pictures for a story for Getty Images. He has already taken 6151 images and expect to take around 30.000 images… Only a selection of the very best will be used by Getty Images. His stay has inspired a livelily discussion on the art of Photography. We all enjoy Lukasz's stay.

What we did today:

  1. Six drill runs from Wednesday7 pm to Thursday 7 pm. Logger’s depth at 7 pm: 2306.97 m. Logged core: 19.17 m.
  2. Processing in science trench. Last bag packed: 3961 Production: 18.15 m.
  3. Seismic and optical lines moved to the shear zone close to the EXS1 and EXS2 shallow ice core sites.
  4. Canadian air sampling system installed and first pit samples taken..
  5. Drill liquid system recovered so drill liquid can be poured down from the surface.
  6. Garbage pallet built.
  7. Problems with the internet system localized to critical satellite-disc positioning.

Weather today: Morning fog clearing to blue sky most of the day.. Wind from W between 2 to 8 kn. Temperatures -25 to -7°C.
