Long-tailed Skuas.

Late afternoon we had four birds in camp. They flew around in camp for a while before settling two and two on the timber sledge and a pallet.
Andreas managed to take a good picture of the birds and they are long-tailed skuas. Later they continued their journey. This year we have only seen few birds so it is great to get them as vistors.

What we did today:

  1. Took two weatherports down.
  2. Documented frozen food in cook’s freezer.
  3. Built a pallet with DK and CA cargo.
  4. Deployed the new borehole camera.
  5. Took the last Viessmann Cabin down.
  6. Shortened the ice core buffer.

21 in camp (since July 26th)

Weather today: Morning fog lifting to an overcast day with snowfall, wind between 2 and 11 kt from NW and temperatures between -17 to -13°C.
