Nico cutting and packing the EGRIP deep ice core into bags after having done DEP measurements.
Today Nico started the processing of the ice core, measuring DEP on some 6.6m of cores as well as cutting and packing the core in 12 sections of 55cm (or bags as we call them). Our doctor Anna-Maria also assisted a bit, getting to pack her first ice core bag.
In the drill trench Grant, Iben, Emma, Nicholas and Romain brought 2 beautiful full-length cores to the surface and while the drill orientation software acted up a bit during the first drill run, then the issue seemed to be resolved for the second run. In the dome Jeppe continues to spoil us with delicious food for lunch and dinner, while Bruno is putting the final touches on the radio installation in the cupola.
We also continue our efforts to ready cargo for the flight next week. Today Anna-Maria and Bo broke down tables not needed in the science trench and brought table plates and table legs to the drill trench ramp. On the surface Sverrir readied two air force pallets and some cargo is already on the first pallet thanks to Nico, Sepp and Sverrir.
Our new Pistenbully is unfortunately still in need of attention, so today Sverrir removed ice and snow underneath the vehicle in order to further inspect hoses.
Finally, Anna-Maria, Bo and Emma manged to change the look of our camp a bit, by installing the flag line, which includes flags from all the nations who are part of EGRIP as well as flags for all nationalities who will be in camp – hopefully we remembered them all!
