The EGRIP June 2023 dream team: Prashant, Grant, Yannick, Barbara, Ashish, Hans & Tim, Emil & Nico, Kenji, Josey, Palle, Søren, and Anders
Two ice cores were drilled today to reach a drillers depth of 2626 m. Next step is to have the borehole logged for which we will await the arrival of new field participants, hopefully by tomorrow. Since we have a Skier scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, we have moved our traditional Saturday celebration to today, Friday. Flight missions and Saturday celebrations do not make a good cocktail as half the camp is leaving, 19 new people are coming in and everybody is busy packing, unpacking, loading or unloading. The culinary world tour continued today with a delicious Indian dinner. Prashant and Ashish were in the kitchen all day to prepare a typical menu from Goa with deep fried salmon, prawns and vegetables, then dhal and rice & curry, and for dessert ‘Shira’ - a semolina paste with clovers. The food was hot, but adjusted to non-Indian taste. Later the ice bar opened outside main dome and the Indian theme was continued with a rare polar cricket tournament.
What we did today:
Weather today: It’s becoming colder again and with temperatures cooling from -6°C to -14°C. Wind 4-20 kt starting out from S and turning NW.

Very few people know about it, but the special polar version of cricket is played in snow with a spade.
Despite the chilling temperature, the ice bar had its official opening today.
True Indian cooking with specialties from Goa.
