A ready camp!

Skier 51 making a low pass overflight of the EGRIP skiway.

Today we planned to receive Skier 51 (an LC130 aircraft) here at EGRIP, and had all ground operations ready to that end. Unfortunately, a maintenance issue with the Skier hindered it from landing on our skiway, but we got the spectacle of two low passes over camp and skiway. Later in the day, we organized and palletized more retro cargo for the coming days of plane operations.
In camp Aslak and Julien managed to get the weatherports furnished and Sverrir got the soda and bear machined operational, meaning that our camp is now fully ready – and with plentiful supplies of candy it was time for a movie night!
In the drill trench Dorthe used the entire day and evening logging the bore hole with the new logger.

What we did today:

  1. Readied retro-cargo for upcoming Skier operations.
  2. Logging bore hole with old logger.
  3. Furnished the weatherports with bunk beds and repaired electric connections in big weatherport.
  4. Got soda and beer machine operational.
  5. Readied ground operations for Skier receival at EGRIP.
  6. Had a very nice movie night.

Weather today: Clear skies and temp. from -36°C to -21°C. Wind: 7-12 kt from WSW. Visibility: Unrestricted.
