Our colleagues from GEUS pose in front of the weather station.
Two Winkie shuttles were carried out by the Basler plane today, and we got five Greendrill people and their equipment to camp. If good conditions prevail, the Winkie shuttling may be done by tomorrow. The plan is then to transport the Greendrill passengers and equipment to Kanger on Hercules flights scheduled for Thursday and Saturday. Late in the morning a Norlandair Twin-Otter showed up with four colleagues from GEUS who did maintenance of the GC-Net weather station that is located south of camp. Late afternoon, the job was done and the T-O went back to Zackenberg. We hope to see the GEUS crew again next week for a fuelling pitstop. In the white tent, the power cable is being connected to the mechanics garage, the inclined trench is becoming deeper and the spooling of the cable onto the winch has been initiated.
What we did today:
Weather today: Yet another calm and sunny day perfect for flying and working on surface. Temp. from -20°C to -6°C. Wind: 2-10 kt mostly from S. In the evening the wind picked up to 20 kt and it became overcast.
Aircraft of the day: The beautiful Twin-Otter from Icelandic Norlandair came by on a one-day visit from Zackenberg with colleagues from GEUS to maintain the EGRIP GC-net weather station.
