The Saturday night cooks, Martin, Mori and Kyra proudly presenting the amazing sushi menu!
Saturday, we had a storm with wind above 30 kt and a lot of drifting snow that lowered the visibility. Therefore, the planned flights were cancelled and postponed to the following days. Saturday evening the storm was over, but it had left snow dunes in camp and on the skiway. The flag line in camp and the skiway flags needed some maintenance after the blow. On Sunday, the skiway was groomed, camp was cleared for snow dunes and trench entrances were blown free of snow. Saturday night Mori and Martin prepared an amazing sushi menu that was followed by a chocolate cake made by Kyra. We played an eight-year-old Danish version of Jeopardy and discovered a surprisingly high level of trivia knowledge among the field participants. Sunday afternoon the GEUS Twin-Otter landed at EGRIP for additional maintenance of the EGRIP AWS and as a fuelling stopover between other AWS stations. The T-O party of six will stay overnight at EGRIP. For the intermediate drill setup, the drill has almost been assembled and a logging table has been installed. At the bottom of the inclined trench a distinct layer has been identified that we may apply to have certified as the Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point for the Anthropocene.
What we did today:
